QUOTED IS THE LEADING VOICE OF AND FOR A NEW GENERATION OF CULTURE-MAKERS WHO DESIRE MEANING AND TRUTH.
JeanCarlos - Issue 5
"My dad was not a good person. He wouldn't really acknowledge me. When he came home from work he would just stay on the bed and watch TV. He was abusive toward my mom and us, too. I forgive him for everything that he's done, but I still don't respect him as a father."
FREE YOUR TRUTH
Ebon - Issue 5
"First, I came out to my parents that I was gay. I wouldn't even say I came out, really. They saw me texting someone. 'Who are you texting?' they asked. I was 13 so they took my phone. And what a surprise, it was someone older than me, and a man."
Nylah - Issue 5
"When I grow up I want to be an anesthesiologist. My teacher always said that if your dreams don't scare you they are not big enough. And I'm scared because that will mean keeping somebody's life in my hands."
DON'T LET ANYONE DEFINE OR DICTATE YOUR TRUTH, OR YOUR WORTH.
WE SPEAK UP FOR YOUR TRUTH.
Josh - Issue 6
"People love to define the things around them. I’d say every time people try to define me they get it wrong. No one has ever guessed what I do for work. Getting dressed is one of my favorite parts of the day. It is a costume and I get to decide who I’m going to be that day. Some people may look at me and think it’s too much, that it’s tacky. Yes, it is, but it’s still beautiful."
QUOTED IS A LOVE LETTER TO NEW YORK FROM THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE.
Holly - Issue 6
''I think we're high on the hard here. The harder it gets, the more you're like, ‘I'm going to beat this thing, I'm going to survive this.’ There's always a ‘should’ here. ‘I should be doing this, I should be doing that.’ You feel guilty when you sit down and take a break.''
